Roles & Responsibilities
About the Role: Join our dynamic Trading Department as a Trainee, supporting both back office and front office operations in physical and derivatives trading, with a focus on sugar markets. This role is ideal for fresh graduates or entry-level candidates with a degree in mathematics, finance, economics, statistics, or related field. You will develop skills in analytical thinking, numerical proficiency, and advanced MS Excel use while contributing to daily trading operations, reconciliation, and reporting. Under the guidance of our Trading team, you’ll gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced trading environment.
- Daily Back Office Reconciliation: Assist in reconciling trading positions, ensuring accuracy in trade records and financial data.
- Daily Trading Reports/Accounts Preparation: Use MS Excel to prepare accurate trading reports and account summaries for management review.
- Physical Purchase/Sales Contracts Tracking: Monitor and reconcile physical sugar contracts, including pricing and raw sugar shipment logistics.
- Global Sugar Supply & Demand Tracking: Analyze and present global sugar market trends to management using data-driven insights.
- Inspection/Surveyor Liaison: Coordinate with surveyors for white sugar bulk sales, ensuring compliance and quality standards.
- Pricing Execution on Exchange: Execute trades on exchanges as directed by the Senior Trading Manager or Commercial Director, following precise instructions.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or related field (recent graduates are preferred).
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in numbers and basic financial calculations.
- Advanced MS Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUP, PivotTables, formulas, and data visualization).
- Keen attention to detail and accuracy in data handling.
- Eagerness to learn about physical and derivatives trading, particularly in sugar markets.
- Strong interest to learn and grow within the team
