Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

The Trainer is responsible for the delivery of training programs for staff on various kind of operational equipment, by instructing the trainee in the correct, safe and efficient use of the equipment used in Operations. Trainer is also responsible for the operators’ assessments and operator certification of the trained equipment, to ensure that the trainee is competent to operate at the required standard. The Equipment trainer also conducts annual recertification and retraining for existing qualified staff on equipment to ensure that they retain competency and stay current with new practices.


  1. Actively follow and promote the ADT Safety and Security policies and ensure that fellow employees and visitors are doing the same. These policies are to be always followed within the port environment so as to ensure a safe and secure workplace for all.
  2. Preparing and implementing Operator training plan, including the allocation of trainees, equipment, and facilities for training purposes.
  3. To ensure sufficient qualified and safe equipment operators are always available to the Operations Department to meet operational requirements.
  4. To instruct company employees in the safe and efficient use of port equipment using structured equipment operator courses in line with organization policies and manufacturers specifications.
  5. To follow safe operating procedures and instructions therefore preventing any injury to persons or damage to containers/cargo, equipment and property.
  6. To ensure training quality standards of all are met by implementing and observing the quality of the training being conducted in the work area.
  7. To monitor the condition of all equipment and report any safety problems, faults, or damages to the equipment before, during or after the shift, to the supervisor – Equipment & Training.
  8. To prepare course materials, contents and schedules ensuring the effective delivery of training programs.
  9. To prepare, complete and authorize daily record sheets, according to Operations training policy, to track progress of trainees.
  10. Sometimes called upon to participate or provide input into accident/incident investigations and extrapolate any issues identified into improved training provided to operators.
  11. To prepare trainee for final assessment and update training records/ personnel file of each Operator trainee on completion of training for reference and future decision making.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned by the Manager or Director.

Desired Candidate Profile

Minimum Higher Secondary School Certificate

Certified in CHE Assessment

Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar position and previously as Multi-skilled Port Operator.

Knowledgeable with Computers, Mentoring, Presentation skills, Working at Heights.

Excellent hand-eye coordination and motor skills.
