Managerial

Facilitating the scheduling of studies or procedures for diagnostic purposes utilizing fiscal responsibility for patient and hospital costs

Using critical thinking skills to prioritize situations to ensure positive and timely customer interactions

Technical

Providing advanced nursing care for patients before and after solid-organ transplantation including heart, kidney, kidney-pancreas, liver and lung along the continuum of outpatient to inpatient 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

Coordinating the evaluation process for pre-transplant (referral) patients to ensure effective use of hospital and clinical resources

Assisting nurses and other staff to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care of the transplant patient

Providing on-call coverage, including coordination of activities prior to transplant, and as medical triage for out patients in collaboration with the physician on-call

Demonstrating understanding and ability to facilitate/coordinate evaluation and listing of potential transplant recipient candidates

Using analytical skills to do basic assessment of transplant recipient and/or living donor candidates at point of contact to determine appropriate next steps

Coordinating transplantation process when a donor is available (24 hours/7 days a week) including communication between physicians, local organ procurement organization, patient/families and the medical team involved including ED, OR, ICU (SICU, ACU), blood bank and histocompatilbility labs

Demonstrating understanding and ability to facilitate/coordinate evaluation and listing of potential transplant recipient candidates

Participating in the development and implementation of protocol and standards of care for the transplant patient in collaboration with other healthcare professionals

Reporting results of laboratory and radiological tests and identifies in conjunction with MD, possible co-morbidities in transplant recipient and/or living donor candidates

Identifying need for candidate re-evaluation when appropriate

Identifying absolute and relative contraindications to transplantation/living donation

Communicating with referring physicians regarding candidates status and evaluation outcome

Providing appropriate pre-transplant education to transplant recipient and/or living donor candidates and families regarding: Evaluation process, Required tests/procedures/consults, Operative procedures, Medications, Short/long term follow-up care, ENOS listing

Providing appropriate post-transplant education to transplant recipient and/or living donor candidates and families regarding: Follow-up visits, General health and care, Signs and symptoms of infection/rejection, Medications, When to call the transplant office

Monitoring patient progress post transplantation/living donation

Quality & Safety

Being responsible for care and adjustment as necessary and maintenance of equipment as appropriate

Maintaining the strictest confidence in relation to patient information whether formally or informally recorded

Maintaining compliance with all safety regulation in manipulating equipment

Maintaining compliance with all infection control regulations and policies when dealing with equipment and patients

Assuming the role of a brand ambassador for the facility and promoting a customer focused philosophy in dealing with any stakeholders

Maintaining positive and effective working relationships within the department/division and also with other departments/sections within the facility

Performing any other duties as may be assigned relevant to the basic responsibilities of the role

Adhering to the Occupational Health and Safety, Materials Management and Maintenance standards

Adhering to requirements of the Occupational Health and safety guidelines and infection control guidelines

Understanding and adhering to emergency preparedness plans/policies

Ensuring Personal Effectiveness

Recognizing the necessity of continuously developing skills and acquiring additional knowledge appropriate to the position

Dressing appropriately to meet the expectations of the specific work area and in alignment with the Occupational Health and Safety policies

Building key partnerships within the organization for pursuing client-centered, comprehensive, integrated systems of care

Complying with any regulations related to mentoring, training and development of UAE nationals staff

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in nursing of NLT 3 years study duration from accredited program; OR

AND Associate Degree Nurses from North America. (Binding), with evidence of passing the National exam.

AND Current national license.

Preferred:

  • Certified Clinical Transplant Coordinator Certificate.(CCT)
  • Certificate or post graduate diploma in Health Services Management
  • International Accreditation experience.
  • Certified proof of yearly CME.
  • Continuous post graduate courses.
