Job Description

The Transportation Administrator plays a pivotal role in managing and overseeing the daily operations of transportation and logistics departments within a company. This position requires a high degree of organization, excellent communication skills, and the ability to coordinate effectively with various stakeholders, including vendors, drivers, warehouse staff, and management teams. The Transportation Administrator is responsible for ensuring that all transportation activities are carried out smoothly and efficiently while adhering to company policies and regulatory requirements. This role involves planning and optimizing routes, managing budgets, tracking deliveries, and implementing strategies to improve logistical efficiencies and cost-effectiveness. A strong understanding of transportation and logistics systems is critical for success in this role, as is the ability to adapt to changing circumstances and handle problems swiftly and effectively.


Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily transportation operations ensuring efficiency and effectiveness at all times.
  • Coordinate and communicate with carriers, drivers, and warehouse staff regularly.
  • Plan, organize, and manage the work of subordinate staff to achieve department goals.
  • Analyze transportation and delivery costs, identifying areas for improvements or savings.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with external suppliers and partners.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations, policies, and safety practices governing transportation activities.
  • Implement systems and processes to track performance metrics and transport logistics statistics.
  • Assist in resolving transportation-related issues or concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Budget for transportation expenditures and monitor financial performance regularly.
  • Maintain records of vehicles and equipment, scheduling repairs, and upkeep when needed.
  • Ensure that all personnel comply with company operational and safety procedures.
  • Evaluate and negotiate contracts with suppliers and transport service providers.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in logistics management or similar transportation roles is required.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret and apply relevant data.
  • Familiarity with transportation management software and routing programs is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills necessary for collaborating with internal and external parties.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines.
