BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor (PC) under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force aircraft and train RSAF personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons. For such maintenance training, this role is a specialist appointment designed to maximise the effectiveness of the Link 16 Network. The job holder is responsible to the Head of Managed Operations, through the Operations Support Team Leader, for understanding the status of communication between all Link 16 participants and to manipulate the network in such a way as to fulfil the operational needs of participants in line with the RSAF C2 needs.
The job holder is accountable for the following:
To maintain a robust accurate Link 16 network so platforms can exchange data and complete missions.
To monitor the network to ensure it is being operated in conjunction with the extant national restrictions.
Responsibility for short range planning of day to day Link 16 operations.
Regular liaison with relevant RSAF and civilian agencies.
Ensure that the Typhoon aircraft obtain optimum use of the Link 16 network with correct programming of the MIDS.
Completing any other reasonable duties or requests that are made by the line management.
To understand the status of communication between all Link 16 participants and manipulate the network in such a way as to fulfil the operational needs of participants, in line with the C2 needs.
Reassigning network bandwidth or assigning bandwidth to unplanned participants; maintaining situational awareness of all participants.
Recognising platforms that, for some reason, cannot participate in the network, and developing solutions to address the deficiencies.
Considerable practical experience of Link 16 network management
An understanding of Typhoon MIDS.
The ability to act upon his own initiative within the scope of his job.
A conscientious approach to work and meticulous attention to detail.
A track record of meeting strict deadlines without compromising standards and quality.
Thorough understanding of company processes and procedures and industry knowledge.
Proven experience within the aerospace industry preferably gained on Typhoon aircraft.
The job holder should have the following background:
Considerable experience of Link 16 network management.
A thorough understanding of Typhoon MIDS.
Demonstrable experience working with aircrew on a busy operational flying squadron.
High level of interpersonal skill to co-ordinate a number of activities and the ability to communicate, influence and direct decision making.
Previous experience of working effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
The ability and capacity to adapt to rapidly changing customer demands.
Experience in the preparing and presenting of high quality briefings to key stakeholders.
