An Ultrasound Technician, also known as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, plays a critical role in the healthcare industry by using ultrasound equipment to produce images of the internal organs and tissues of the body. Ultrasound Technicians are trained to perform procedures in a variety of specialties, including obstetrics, gynecology, abdominal, cardiac, and vascular sonography. Individuals in this role must be detail-oriented, with excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare team members. Responsibilities

• Operate ultrasound equipment to capture images for diagnostic purposes.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort during ultrasound examinations.
• Maintain a thorough patient record including observations and findings.
• Coordinate with physicians to determine necessary exam types and protocols.
• Evaluate ultrasound images for quality and accuracy before releasing them for interpretation.
• Prepare and maintain diagnostic imaging equipment for each examination.
• Explain procedures to patients and address any questions or concerns they might have.
• Adhere to established protocols and standards set by medical or regulatory bodies.
• Manage inventory of necessary supplies and report any shortages or maintenance issues.
• Keep updated with latest practices and technologies in the field of ultrasonography.
• Participate in continuing education and training sessions to enhance professional skills.
• Collaborate with medical team members to integrate findings into comprehensive patient care.

Requirements

• Associate s degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or a related field is required.
• Certification by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) is preferred.
• At least two years of experience in a clinical ultrasound setting is advantageous.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with patients and staff.
• Proficient in using ultrasound equipment and understanding technical specifications.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
