To lead and guide the visual team in delivering agreed corporate visual policies, guidelines and standards in order to ensure a consistent Brand identity and maximize sales opportunities
Description of the Tasks
Visual Standards
The Job Holder (JH) ensures that the VM standards in the store reflect the current guidelines given. The JH ensures that all store receive and implement the guidelines on time; he plans the required changes (especially before promotions and new season launches), and implements them with the visual team. The JH reviews the standards on a regular basis (daily where possible) and conducts monthly store assessments, analyzing performance and highlighting areas for improvement. All in order to ensure the stores provide inspirational and easy to shop environments.
Commercial Standards
The JH ensures he works in partnership with the stores commercial teams. He discusses with department managers their respective department s layout and helps them implement it accordingly. The JH ensures they are up to date with best sellers and top lines to ensure they are merchandised in hot spots and feature areas. He ensures that the VM teams are implementing easy to shop layouts with sensible, attractive department and product adjacencies. The JH keeps up to date with current trends and reviews competitors and then uses information to drive commercial opportunities in partnership with store management teams. All in order to maximize sales opportunities.
General Standards
The JH ensures that the visual teams maintain all general standards in the stores. He ensures all visual work is done while following health & safety procedures. The JH also ensures that stock management procedures are followed and that accurate and consistent reports/ documents are produced and updated. He emphasises and highlights the importance of Customer service to the visual teams and ensures it is always considered as a priority, at any given time. All to ensure optimal conditions in the stores for customers and staff alike.
Visual Merchandising Tools
The JH ensures that all VM tools are up to date and well maintained. He forecasts quantities to order for all large promotional events, for all store within area of responsibility. The JH checks that d cor sent to the store is the right quantity/quality. He ensures that the VM kit is up to date and in good condition. The JH ensures that the store equipment s are right and well maintained, informing RO about obsolete items. All to ensure that the stores are adequately equipped to achieve their VM standards.
Team Management
The JH ensures the VM teams have in depth knowledge of the company policies and VM standards, delivering (and/or sourcing) training/ coaching when and where required. He ensures they implement easy to shop layouts and maintain consistent high VM standards. The JH encourages the VM teams to come up with ideas and suggestions on how to make the product offer more attractive to the customer. He motivates the VM teams and leads by example. The JH is involved in the recruitment process for VM candidates as well as playing a major role in the selection process.
Communication
The JH (together with the Marketing Manager) will ensure that each promotional plan is communicated effectively to all store. With the Operations team he will check the store as appropriate ensuring that all elements are of the highest standard.
The JH maintains proper and periodical communication channels with RO, store and visual team to discuss guidelines, plans, layouts, launches etc. He ensures that proper and timely feedback is given to all concerned parties. All in order to ensure a balanced and efficient working environment.
VM Budget
To compile a VM Budget against the last years spend for a new financial year, and manage VM Budget & to continually update the store VM expenses on monthly expenditure by updating finance on Cost control sheet.
1. 7. PERSON SPECIFIC:
Education: Formal Education in Fine Arts/Graphic Design with Visual Merchandising Background
Minimum Experience and Knowledge: Graduate of 4 years course with minimum of 5 years experience in Retail Merchandising, preferably at a managerial or supervisory level
Job-Specific Skills: Ability to communicate and speak/read English / Physically fit
