Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities


Key Responsibilities:

Conduct visual inspection of welds before, during, and after welding activities.

Verify proper welding procedures, qualifications of welders, and compliance with WPS (Welding Procedure Specification).

Ensure all welding and fabrication activities adhere to project specifications, applicable standards (e.g., ASME, AWS, ISO, API), and client requirements.

Review and interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, and material specifications.

Monitor pre-welding preparations such as material identification, joint preparation, and environmental conditions.

Witness and record welding procedure qualification tests and welder performance qualifications.

Coordinate with NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) personnel and review NDT reports.

Identify and document non-conformities, initiate corrective actions, and follow up until resolution.

Maintain inspection records and prepare detailed reports for submission to QA/QC or project management.

Ensure all welding consumables are stored and handled as per manufacturer guidelines and project requirements.

Support internal and external audits related to welding quality.

Participate in tool-box talks and provide guidance to welders and fabrication teams on best welding practices.

Job Descriptions:

Material receiving inspections for piping & structural items.

Experience in witnessing PQR & WQT for piping & structural fabrications.

Witness mechanical testing for PQR/WQT.

Review PQR/WPS/WQT certificates.

Attend final visual & dimensional inspections for piping & structural items.

Review NDT reports.

Skills:

Attention to detail and strong observational skills.

Excellent communication and reporting abilities.

Good understanding of quality control systems and procedures.

Ability to work independently and within a team.

Competency in MS Office and quality documentation tools.

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualifications and Experience:

Diploma or Degree in Mechanical/Metallurgical Engineering (or equivalent).

Certified Welding Inspector (CSWIP 3.1 / AWS-CWI).

Valid ASNT Level-2 certification.


Minimum 5 years of experience in welding inspection within oil & gas, construction, or fabrication industries.

Strong knowledge of international standards (e.g., ASME IX, AWS D1.1, ASME B31.3).

Familiarity with NDT techniques (RT, UT, MPI, DPI).

Proficient in reading welding symbols and technical drawings.
