Roles & Responsibilities

Role & responsibilities

The main purpose of the role is to

  • Ensure goods are produced efficiently at the right cost and at right level of quality.
  • Ensure profitability by effective utilisation of men, machine, and materials by employing appropriate methods.
  • Undertake R &D to improve process efficiency, Reduce machine breakdown.
  • Continuously strive to reduce operation cost and ensure safety and other systems. Upgrade teams skills, systems and equipment to meet market demand

The key Responsibilities involved are :

PRODUCTION

  • Handle Steel Drum Line & monitor and continuously increase efficiency.
  • Ensure goods are produced at very low costs in order to maximize profit.
  • Interact with teams to analyse & ensure cost-effective, high quality & timely delivery of products.
  • Redesign & implement effective production procedures that impacts delivery time & reduce the production delays.
  • Enhance the plant capacity by increasing the yield, reducing the cycle time, debottlenecking and process improvements.

MAINTENANCE

  • Undertake trouble shooting when equipment fails.
  • Monitor and maintain the line efficiency which is agreed in Performance Target.
  • Ensure timely maintenance, safe use of equipment and monitor MTTR & MTBF.
  • Recognize & resolve various operational & manufacturing problems within deadlines.
  • Coordinate with maintenance section for preventive & corrective maintenance schedules.
  • Supervise implementation of preventive maintenance and repairing programs.
  • Modify the equipment, process flow, working practices and so on for controlling & reducing conversion cost per unit produced.

QUALITY

  • Inspect products to verify conformance to quality specifications.
  • Ensure non-conforming products are minimised or not generated.
  • Reduce the quality cost with the help of analysis of non-conformances.
  • Analyse process scrap and implement corrective actions to control.
  • Conduct rejection analysis at vendors' end & customer complaints using problem solving tools.
  • Accelerate daily / weekly quality complaint closure, convene monthly / weekly manufacturing reviews and QMS impact assessment reviews etc.,
  • Keep a close vigil on the rejections & wastages and implement methods to eliminate them.
  • Promote & implement 5S, Kaizen, Quality Circles etc., to cultivate the lean culture.

SAFETY / STATUTORY

  • Undertake periodic safety audit / checking to avoid damage to person, tools and tackles.
  • Face internal & external audits, regulatory audit and preparing the compliances plan.
  • Convene toolbox meeting to work towards machine / human safety, eliminating unsafe practices and conditions.
  • Take part in the development of policies related to EHS, as well as monitoring occupational safety & health, process and plant safety.
  • Conduct job safety analysis, investigate incident, Risk Assessment, Environmental Monitoring, Fire Prevention and Emergency Preparedness.

The role also involves Manpower Planning, people development and MIS



Preferred candidate profile

Engineering degree preferably in Mechanical / Production domain is desirable. Any professional courses in Industrial Packaging would be added advantage. He should have atleast 10 to 12 years of minimum post qualification experience in packaging industry.


Should have knowledge of :

  • Hard Packaging Industry - material, properties, Production knowledge
  • Capabilities of different production (equipment) lines and equipment
  • Quality Management Systems & Industry Quality Standards and Safety Systems
