Roles & Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Workshop Engineer is responsible for the effective management of the workshop and fleet operations, ensuring the maintenance, repair, and optimal performance of heavy machinery and heavy vehicles, particularly waste management equipment. The role requires strong technical expertise, hands-on supervision, and effective use of workshop management software and ERP systems.Understand automotive components, faults & failures, ensuring they meet industry standards and performance specifications.


Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Plan, manage, and supervise daily workshop operations for heavy machinery and heavy trucks, with a focus on waste management vehicles and equipment.
  • Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance of fleet vehicles and machinery to minimize breakdowns and downtime.
  • Coordinate and manage fleet operations and workshop activities together, ensuring smooth alignment between maintenance schedules and operational requirements.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical faults and ensure timely and cost-effective repairs.
  • Supervise technicians, mechanics, and support staff, ensuring adherence to safety standards and quality procedures.
  • Monitor spare parts inventory, raise purchase requests, and control workshop costs.
  • Ensure compliance with UAE regulations, company policies, and safety standards related to heavy vehicles and machinery.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, breakdowns, job cards, and fleet performance using workshop software and ERP systems.
  • Generate reports related to fleet availability, maintenance costs, downtime, and performance for management review.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, service providers, and OEMs when required.
  • Support fleet inspections, audits, and vehicle fitness requirements.
  • Perform root cause analysis on mechanical issues, implementing corrective actions to enhance reliability.
  • Provide technical support, troubleshooting any mechanical issues that arise.

  • Experienced with clear knowledge regarding parts, part serial number and parts inventory.
  • Handle the day-to-day operation of Workshop.
  • Track & Manage fleet maintenance and preventive maintenance audit.
  • Prioritize the maintenance and repair of fleet to ensure operation is not suffered

Desired Candidate Profile

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Automobile Engineering

  • Expecting 3 to 5 years exp in UAE/GCC
  • Proven experience handling heavy machinery, heavy trucks, and waste management equipment (compactors, hook loaders, skip loaders, etc.).
  • Strong technical knowledge of heavy vehicle and machinery maintenance.
  • Proven ability to manage both workshop and fleet operations effectively.
  • Proficient in using ERP systems, fleet management software, and MS Office.
  • Strong leadership, planning, and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make operational decisions.
  • Good communication and reporting skills.
