We are seeking a skilled and reliable Workshop Technician – Diesel & Petrol (Heavy Vehicle) to support our fleet operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy vehicles and equipment, ensuring maximum reliability and operational efficiency.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and technical issues on six-wheel trucks and trailers.
- Perform troubleshooting using diagnostic tools and technical manuals.
- Conduct inspections and perform regular maintenance on JCB, CAT Excavators, and CAT Shovels.
- Identify worn or damaged parts and carry out timely repairs or replacements.
- Perform routine servicing and preventive maintenance on all heavy vehicles, including diesel and petrol systems.
- Ensure all maintenance work follows safety standards and manufacturer guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance activities, and parts usage.
- Report major issues to supervisors and recommend corrective actions.
- Keep tools, equipment, and the workshop area clean, organized, and safe.
Desired Candidate Profile
Required Skills & Competencies
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in heavy vehicle maintenance, preferably in a workshop setting.
- Strong knowledge of diesel and petrol engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and mechanical components.
- Hands-on experience working with JCB, CAT equipment, and heavy trucks/trailers.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagnostic reports.
- Skilled in using mechanical tools, diagnostic equipment, and workshop instruments.
- Good problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Basic communication skills in English; knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
- Commitment to safety, teamwork, and quality workmanship.
Qualifications and Experience
- Educational Qualification: Technical Diploma, Certificate, or equivalent in Automotive, Mechanical, or Heavy Vehicle Engineering a plus.
- Experience: 2–5 years of hands-on experience in maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing heavy vehicles, including diesel and petrol engines. Prior workshop experience with six-wheel trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment (e.g., JCB, CAT Excavators, CAT Shovels) is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems; ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic reports; proficient in the use of workshop tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Work Competencies: Proven ability to perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs with attention to safety standards and manufacturer guidelines. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively under pressure.
- Language and Communication: Basic proficiency in English; knowledge of additional languages is advantageous.
- Safety and Compliance: Commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment; adherence to workplace safety and operational protocols.
