Key Responsibilities

• CNC Machine Operation: Set up, operate, and maintain CNC machines (e.g., 5-axis router CNC, 3-axis & 2-axis hot wire CNC machines) including loading programs, configuring workpieces, and executing production cycles to meet specifications.
• Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to ensure accurate machining and compliance with specifications, and create bills of material to support production planning.
• Machine Monitoring: Monitor machine operations and make adjustments as needed to maintain tolerances.
• Programming and Toolpath Optimization: Develop and optimize 3D designs & CNC programs using CAD (e.g., PTC Creo, SolidWorks, Fusion 360) and 5-axis CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, HyperMill, PowerMill). Generate, verify, and refine toolpaths to minimize cycle times, scrap, and variation.
• G-Code and Controller Management: Input, edit, and troubleshoot G-code/M-code programs, utilizing Fanuc controller features such as macro programming, tool life management, and high-speed machining modes.
• Tool and Fixture Management: Create and maintain tool libraries, fixture libraries, and setup sheets to ensure consistency and efficiency. Perform tool changes, offsets, and adjustments as needed.
• Quality Assurance: Monitor machining processes in real-time and inspect finished parts using precision tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges) to ensure compliance with blueprints, tolerances, and GD&T standards. Report and address deviations or defects.
• Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Conduct routine preventive maintenance (e.g., lubrication, cleaning) and diagnose operational issues (e.g., Fanuc controller alarms, spindle or axis errors) to minimize downtime.
• Process Improvement: Implement lean manufacturing principles and conduct root cause analysis to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate production logs, including cycle times, part counts, and maintenance records. Create work instructions to support operational consistency.
• Team Collaboration: Provide engineering support for equipment planning and maintenance, coach operations staff, and support new product introductions.
• Safety and Workspace Management: Follow safety protocols tailored to 5-axis CNC operations, including verifying spindle alignment and tool path using the pre-collision module to prevent collisions, while ensuring a clean and organized work environment.
