Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for ABB RTU560 systems, ensuring thorough validation of functionality and performance.
  • Perform in-depth testing of RTU560 configurations, including communication protocols, data acquisition, and control logic, to guarantee system integrity.
  • Analyze test results, identify root causes of issues, and provide detailed reports with actionable recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborate with design and development teams to understand system requirements and contribute to testability.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in testing or commissioning of RTU SCADA systems, with a focus on RTUs.

  • Proven experience with ABB RTU560 or similar RTU platforms is highly preferred.

  • Strong understanding of communication protocols like IEC 61850, DNP3, IEC-101 and Modbus. RTU560 Configuration Verification

    • Review existing RTU560 configuration:

      • Signal database

      • IEC 60870-5-101/104 or IEC 61850 mappings

    • Validate:

      • Point addressing

      • Data class (SP, DP, AI, etc.)

      • Communication parameters End-to-End SCADA Testing

        • Perform complete loop testing:

          • RTU → Communication → ADMS

        • Identify:

          • Missing signals

          • Incorrect mappings

          • Communication delays/errors

        • Coordinate corrections with SCADA/ADMS team Compliance & Safety

          • Follow SEC operational and safety procedures

          • Ensure:

            • No impact to live SCADA operations

            • Proper coordination before simulation

          • Adhere to:

            • Permit-to-work system

            • Cybersecurity and access protocols
