Roles & Responsibilities

Academic Quality Manager - Office of the Provost

Job Purpose

Academic Quality Manager is responsible for leading and supporting quality assurance and enhancement activities within a designated academic cluster and group of Faculties.

Ensure compliance with academic regulations, utilising an evidence-led and data-led approach to monitor compliance, responding in a timely manner to ensure optimised compliance.

Engage with UK-validating partners to ensure effective partnership working, clear communication and effective delivery of the validating partner s core quality assurance frameworks.

Enable appropriate alignment and compliance to Egyptian higher education regulatory system.

Offer expert advice on good quality assurance and enhancement practices Provide support to academics in maintaining high standards of quality in teaching and learning.

Job Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact for a designated academic cluster and Faculties therein on academic quality assurance and enhancement matters, providing a timely response and expert advice and guidance
  • Develop deep knowledge of the academic regulations ensuring that Faculties comply with university regulations (UK and Egyptian regulations and by-laws), actively supporting academics to meet regulatory requirements
  • Line manage an Assistant Academic Quality Manager ensuring they are appropriately tasked to support day-to-day quality assurance operations, including supporting their professional development
  • Support designated cluster and Faculties to maintain and improve quality standards in teaching, learning and assessment using data and objective analysis to monitor quality standards
  • Work closely with peer academic quality assurance professionals at validating partners and other regulators, and facilitate partnership working with link tutors at validating institutions and engagement with external examiners
  • Provide contemporary evidence-informed advice to academics on good practice in curriculum design, assessment and teaching methods ensuring alignment to University regulations and the requirements of validating partners
  • Assist in the preparation and review of key academic documentation, including programme validation, course handbooks, annual programme reviews, module reviews, period program reviews and periodic portfolio reviews ensuring they meet University and validating partner requirements
  • As required, coordinate Stage-2 student complaints, working to conduct the necessary investigation and gathering of evidence, reporting and making recommendations as appropriate
  • Support the Academic Secretary and Assistant Academic Secretary in providing key input and support to relevant governance committees and working groups.
  • Liaise with student representatives as required over matters of academic quality assurance in designated cluster and Faculties
  • Monitor the effectiveness of academic quality assurance processes, procedures and regulations utilising appropriate evidence and data, recommending improvements as necessary
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of quality enhancement initiatives and the use of new technologies, supporting continuous improvement across the University
  • Undertake necessary professional development training to maintain a contemporary understanding of emerging trends in higher education quality assurance and enhancement
  • Work with the Director of Teaching Enhancement to develop relevant training for academics in the field of academic quality assurance
  • Support the Director of Academic Quality Management with any professional tasks required in the field of academic quality assurance, and deputise for the Director of Academic Quality Management when necessary
  • Undertake any additional duties as assigned by the line manager.

Job Requirements

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business Administration). A postgraduate degree is highly preferred.
  • Experience
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in higher education administration, academic governance, quality assurance, or compliance.
  • Proven experience working with UK higher education quality frameworks and international academic partnerships.
  • Technical Skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent document auditing, policy review, and process mapping skills.
  • Data-driven mindset with attention to detail.
