As an Accountant, your role will be to ensure timely review and reconciliation of outstations accounts and supporting the finance specialist in Emirates Head Office (HO) closing activities. Carry out trial balance review of centralised stations aiding general ledger monthly closing by providing assurance on completeness and accuracy through internal control and review. Perform secondary review of station s balance sheet accounts inline with internal policies and identify any discrepancies. Support finance specialist in preparation of review reports to senior management providing reasonable assurance on the station s balance sheet accounts. Support outstations FAM / RFAM in transfer of stations Value Added Taxes (VAT) transactions from HO set of books to respective station s set of books. Compile, monitor and follow up on the accounting and control reports from the outstations and validate contents through appropriate analysis.
In This Role, You Will
- Review processes, analyse high risk areas, handle quality checks, and ensure adequate maintenance of prevention and detection controls to ensure completeness, timelines of processing, accounting, billing and accuracy of computation and settlement.
- Resolve disputes, queries, discrepancies with internal and external stakeholders.
- Identify areas and ensure active involvement in projects, system enhancements testing and process changes and thereby acquire in depth knowledge and enhance business processes.
- Check the integrity of interfaces and completeness of data generated by the system. Provide support on key processes and deliverables in the absence of Finance Specialist and assist the Finance Specialist in month closing reviews by investigating movements in balances to ensure quality/accuracy of reporting and to ensure that month/year end adjustments are kept to the minimum.
- Provide data analytical support for Management Information Systems (MIS), KPI and compliance with IFRS.
- To reconcile station related control and clearing nominals, highlight discrepancies, investigate movements in balances and ensure accurate reconciliations with minimal month/year end adjustments.
- To check the integrity of interfaces and completeness of data generated by the system.
- Assist Finance specialist in month closing reviews by investigating movements in balances to ensure quality/accuracy of reporting and to ensure that month/year end adjustments are kept to the minimum.
- Support VAT accounting and reconciliation process for outstations.
To be considered for this role, you must meet the below requirements:
- 12 yrs schooling with Professional Finance Qualifications like ACCA, CA.
- 4+ years relevant experience
- Accounting knowledge preferably from an airline background.
- High level of computer literacy and good knowledge of office automation software like Word, Excel, MS Access and Powerpoint.
- Good analytical and investigative skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with various stakeholders across the business.
- Ability to function independently within an established framework.
