Accountant – Gold Bullion Trading

Job Overview

We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant with a strong background in bullion / commodities trading. The candidate will be responsible for managing trade accounting, inventory reconciliation, financial reporting, and compliance in a high-value gold trading environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Trade Accounting & Lifecycle Management

• Record and manage the full trade lifecycle: booking → pricing → settlement → reconciliation

• Account for spot, forward, and hedging transactions

• Handle fixed-price and floating-price contracts (Fix / Unfix deals)

• Accurately record premiums, discounts, refining charges, and logistics costs

• Monitor and record unrealized and realized P&L on open and closed positions

2. Inventory & Metal Accounting

• Maintain and reconcile physical gold inventory vs trading positions

• Manage karat-wise stock (22K, 24K, etc.) and conversions

• Conduct regular stock reconciliations with vault holdings

• Implement controls to prevent inventory discrepancies, losses, or fraud

3. Hedging & Risk Accounting

• Account for hedged vs unhedged positions using futures/forwards

• Track price exposure and risk positions

• Align accounting records with trading desk positions

• Support risk management through accurate reporting

4. Banking, Treasury & Forex

• Handle high-value and international payments

• Manage instruments like Letters of Credit (LCs) and Bank Guarantees (BGs)

• Perform multi-currency accounting (USD, AED, INR, etc.)

• Track and reconcile forex gains/losses, bank charges, and settlements

5. Compliance & Regulatory Requirements

• Ensure adherence to KYC / AML policies

• Identify and escalate suspicious or high-risk transactions

• Support internal and external audits

• Ensure compliance with VAT/GST regulations applicable to gold trading

6. Reconciliation & Controls

• Reconcile trade ledgers with counterparties/brokers

• Match accounting records with physical inventory and customer balances

• Investigate and resolve discrepancies in trades, stock, or payments

• Strengthen internal controls and reporting accuracy

7. Reporting & Business Support

• Prepare daily reports including:

  • Trade P&L

  • Inventory valuation

  • Exposure reports

• Provide insights to traders for better decision-making

• Support management with financial analysis and reporting

Requirements

• Proven experience in bullion / commodities / precious metals accounting

• Strong understanding of gold pricing (LBMA), spot & forward markets

• Experience with trade lifecycle accounting and reconciliation

• Knowledge of hedging, risk management, and inventory accounting

• Familiarity with AML/KYC compliance frameworks

• Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reconciliation skills

• High level of integrity and attention to detail
