Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments of AI systems used in underwriting, claims processing, fraud detection, customer service, and other health insurance functions.
- Develop and maintain AI governance frameworks, policies, and standards aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Monitor and interpret evolving regulatory landscapes around AI, data privacy (HIPAA, GDPR), and health insurance regulations.
- Ensure AI systems comply with applicable laws and ethical guidelines, including fairness, transparency, and bias mitigation.
AI Model Oversight:
- Collaborate with data scientists, AI developers, and business units to review AI models for risks related to accuracy, bias, explainability, and security vulnerabilities.
- Facilitate validation and stress-testing of AI models to ensure robustness and reliability.
Risk Reporting & Communication:
- Prepare and present risk reports, dashboards, and recommendations to senior management and governance committees.
- Educate stakeholders on AI risks, governance policies, and mitigation strategies.
Incident Management:
- Investigate AI-related incidents or failures, conduct root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions.
- Lead or support AI risk audits and compliance reviews.
Ethical AI Advocacy:
- Promote ethical AI practices within the organization, including fairness, accountability, and inclusivity.
- Participate in industry forums and working groups related to AI governance and ethics in healthcare.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor s or master s degree Risk Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience (3+ years) in AI risk management, governance, or compliance, preferably within health insurance or healthcare sectors.
- Understanding of AI/ML technologies, including common risks and mitigation strategies.
- Knowledge of health insurance regulations, data privacy laws (HIPAA, GDPR), and ethical AI principles.
- Experience with risk frameworks such as NIST, ISO 31000, or similar is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
Preferred Experience:
- Industry Expertise: 3 5 years in AI risk governance, compliance, or ethics, preferably within health insurance or healthcare sectors.
- Technical Acumen: Experience with AI/ML models in production, including risk assessment, validation, and monitoring.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with health insurance regulations and data privacy laws (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR).
- Risk Frameworks: Exposure to standards like NIST AI RMF or ISO 31000.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Experience working with data science, legal, compliance, and IT teams.
- Ethical AI Practices: Involvement in developing or managing ethical AI programs or initiatives.
- Audit & Compliance: Experience in AI-related audits and compliance reviews.
