Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

The role is a strategic, standalone position within the Chairperson’s Office, responsible for financial oversight, validation, and coordination of key reports, proposals, approvals, and communications received from various business and support functions across the Group. The incumbent will act as a financial and strategic sounding board for the Chairperson, ensuring that all submissions are reviewed from the perspective of financial prudence, compliance, business rationale, internal policies, and overall corporate strategy—without being involved in preparation of reports. This position requires strong financial acumen, conceptual clarity, excellent communication skills, and the ability to engage confidently with senior internal stakeholders across geographies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial & Strategic Review

    • Review and critically evaluate financial reports, MIS, budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses submitted by business and support function heads.

    • Examine credit proposals, capital expenditure requests, and major financial approvals prior to submission to the Chairperson.

    • Assess submissions for:

      • Financial logic and commercial viability

      • Alignment with Group strategy

      • Compliance with internal policies, delegation of authority, and governance framework

      • Balance between business requirements and compliance expectations

  • Stakeholder Coordination & Governance

    • Act as a single point of coordination between the Chairperson and senior leadership, including:

      • CEO, COO, Business Heads

      • Finance, HR, Internal Audit, HSSE, IT, and other support functions

    • Review and vet emails, notes, and proposals received from various functions before escalation to the Chairperson.

    • Facilitate and support review meetings chaired by the Chairperson by ensuring quality, clarity, and completeness of agenda papers.

    Communication & Drafting

    • Draft, review, and refine high-quality professional communications, including emails, notes, and responses on behalf of or for review by the Chairperson.

    • Ensure communications are clear, structured, concise, and aligned with the Chairperson’s expectations and tone.

    Advisory Support

    • Provide independent, objective insights and observations to the Chairperson on financial, operational, and governance-related matters.

    • Highlight gaps, inconsistencies, risks, or deviations observed in submissions, along with reasoned observations.

    Time & Travel Flexibility

    • Demonstrate flexibility in working hours to align with the Chairperson’s travel schedule and multiple time zones.

    • Ensure continuity of support irrespective of geographical location.

Desired Candidate Profile

Educational Qualification

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) preferred, or

  • MBA (Finance) / Master’s in Finance from a reputed institution

Experience

  • Strong background in finance, audit, corporate finance, or strategic finance roles

  • Prior exposure to working with senior management / leadership offices will be an advantage
