Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Job Summary
- Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on directional drilling tools.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical faults in MWD/LWD equipment.
- Dismantle and reassemble tools in accordance with OEM standards.
- Ensure safety and compliance in all maintenance activities.
- Maintain accurate records using ERP systems and internal tools.
- Support junior staff and participate in technical investigations and reporting.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and pre-job briefings as required.
- Dismantle, inspect, and reassemble Directional Drilling (DD) equipment following OEM procedures.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical components of motors, modular motors, steering units, and MWD/LWD tools.
- Perform full or partial disassembly for complex repairs and maintenance.
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance activities for downhole and M/LWD tools.
- Calibrate, inspect, test, and pack tools to prepare for field deployment.
- Participate in root cause analysis and failure investigation sessions.
- Accurately update maintenance logs and work orders using ERP systems such as Baker Hughes MAPS or similar platforms.
- Provide training, guidance, and supervision to junior maintenance personnel.
- Estimate costs for equipment repair and manage material requisitions.
- Support inventory control and tool readiness planning.
- Carry out any additional maintenance duties as assigned by the Maintenance or Operations Manager.
Desired Candidate Profile
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or relevant discipline) or equivalent.
Technical Qualification:
- Certification or proven experience in the maintenance of Directional Drilling and Downhole Tool Equipment.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in directional drilling tools maintenance, including MWD/LWD systems.
Languages:
- Proficiency in English (verbal and written) is essential.
Software & Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Baker Hughes MAPS and E-Procedure is preferred.
- Strong understanding of drilling operations, safety protocols, and tool maintenance standards.
