Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist anesthesiologists in preparing and maintaining anesthesia equipment, ensuring everything is sterile and functioning correctly.
- Monitor and manage anesthesia supplies, including medications and disposables, to ensure availability during surgical procedures.
- Conduct regular checks on anesthesia machines and monitors, troubleshooting any issues to optimize patient safety.
- Participate in patient safety protocols, including pre-anesthetic assessments and preparing patients for anesthesia.
- Support the setup of anesthesia delivery systems tailored to specific surgical procedures, adapting configurations as needed.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of anesthesia equipment and supply inventories for accountability.
- Collaborate closely with surgical teams to coordinate timing and requirements for anesthesia administration.
- Educate and guide patients about the anesthesia process, addressing concerns to help alleviate anxiety.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and safety protocols related to anesthesia practices.
- Engage in continuous professional development, attending workshops and training to stay abreast of advancements in anesthesia technology.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Associate's degree or a certificate in anesthesia technology or a related field is required, with a preference for candidates with a bachelor's degree.
- Certification from a recognized body, such as the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT), is highly desirable.
- At least 2 years of experience working in a clinical setting, preferably in an operating room environment.
- Candidates with prior experience in anesthesia-related roles or surgical settings will be prioritized.
- No specific nationality preference, but familiarity with local healthcare regulations is an advantage.
- Fluency in English is required, with additional language skills being an asset in diverse patient populations.
- Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting anesthesia delivery systems and monitoring devices is essential.
- Strong interpersonal skills are necessary for effective communication with medical staff and patients alike.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure are crucial for success in this fast-paced environment.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift and move equipment safely are important for the demands of the role.
