Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Accountabilities:
- Supports day-to-day implementation of animal and zoonotic disease surveillance activities, including data collection, compilation, and reporting at the facility and national levels.
- Assists in the development and dissemination of animal and zoonotic surveillance tools, reporting forms, guidelines, and training materials for veterinary and agricultural sector staff.
- Monitors and maintains surveillance protocols, data sets, instruments, manuals, and training materials for animal and zoonotic disease surveillance activities.
- Conducts searches of published literature on evolving issues in animal disease epidemiology, zoonotic disease surveillance, and One Health approaches.
- Responds to technical requests and inquiries from internal and external staff related to animal and zoonotic surveillance activities.
- Supports implementation of surveillance activities under the STRIDES Jordan workplan and tracks delivery of outputs against agreed timelines.
- Ensures animal surveillance technical implementation is consistent with best practices and meets donor contractual obligations.
- Supports engagement with the Ministry of Agriculture, veterinary services, and relevant national counterparts on animal surveillance systems and standards, as directed by the Epidemiology and Surveillance Advisor.
- Assists in implementing One Health approaches that link animal, human, and environmental surveillance systems in coordination with project technical staff.
- Coordinates with operations and finance teams to support timely and on-budget implementation of surveillance activities.
- Drafts animal surveillance technical progress reports and contributes to all donor reporting requirements.
- Prepares and delivers presentations on animal surveillance progress to the project team and relevant stakeholders.
- Contributes to the development and review of annual workplans and animal surveillance technical deliverables.
- Assists with the development of proposals and animal surveillance technical design documents, based on direction from technical leadership.
- Working knowledge of animal disease epidemiology, zoonotic surveillance, and One Health frameworks, including familiarity with OIE/WOAH standards and FAO guidance on animal surveillance.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills, with ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in MS Office and relevant data management tools.
- Ability to analyze and interpret animal and zoonotic surveillance data, identify errors, and prepare clear and accurate reports.
- Reports to the Epidemiology and Surveillance Advisor.
- Has no formal supervisory responsibility; may provide guidance to junior or support staff.
