Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Carries out preliminary and detailed architectural design for building projects including schools, hospitals, clinics, shelters, warehouses and rehousing projects in accordance with Agency s needs, policies, design criteria, standards, local and international codes of practice; maintains and applies existing standard details of architectural works utilizing relevant software and reviews drawings prepared by Technical Assistants/CAD.
Contributes to the tender documents preparation, including particular specifications to cover special design needs; identifies non-standard items, to improve the quality of implemented works, and writes relevant description to be included in the Bill of Quantities (BoQs).
Searches for emerging models and explores technologies to identify materials and techniques that can be used to meet changing requirements; participates in studies and technical activities to incorporate green elements in designs and satisfy environmental aspects and protection needs and achieve the most cost effective, reliable and technical solution.
Provides technical advice and carries out special designs for the alteration works of the Agency premises; writes technical reports, particularly on architectural aspects and building system inspections, including remediation requirements.
Liaises with Construction teams on architectural design issues arising during construction; updates all Architectural designs drawings to incorporate changes included in the as-built drawings as received from the Fields to reflect on ground conditions and involvements; maintains these drawings based on the relevant Technical Instructions and Standards.
Coordinates and liaises with other designers, to optimise designs in response to architectural needs and maintaining structural soundness and integrity at minimum cost; makes recommendation for improvement of relevant standards and procedures.
Assists in drafting terms of references for consultants and supervising their work to ensure adherence with design criteria, standards and procedures; provides substantive input on various types of reports including weekly and monthly progress reports and ad-hoc reports.
Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Desired Candidate Profile
A university degree in architecture from an accredited university/ institution.
Experience in architectural design software and computer-aided design, such as AutoCAD and other software is required
