Roles & Responsibilities

The Department of Business and Economics at MCBS invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Public Administration. The successful candidate will support teaching, applied research, student supervision, public-sector engagement, and accreditation-aligned quality assurance activities. Candidates with strong Arabic teaching capability are especially encouraged to apply.

Core teaching areas may include:

Public Administration; Public Policy; Public Sector Management; Public Finance and Budgeting; Governance and Ethics; E-Government and Digital Transformation; Research Methods; Strategic Public Management; Human Resource Management in the Public Sector.

Key responsibilities:

Teach undergraduate and/or postgraduate public administration courses in Arabic and/or English, including online and blended delivery where required.

Develop syllabi, learning materials, assessment tools, rubrics, and case studies aligned with public administration competencies and program outcomes.

Incorporate Oman/GCC public-sector cases, policy analysis, public service values, governance, and digital transformation into teaching.

Conduct research and publish in peer-reviewed journals; pursue applied research, policy studies, consultancy, and public-sector collaboration.

Advise students, supervise research projects, support internships/capstones, and mentor students for public-sector careers.

Contribute to curriculum review, Assurance of Learning, moderation, accreditation evidence, program assessment, and continuous improvement.

Required qualifications:

Assistant/Associate Professor: PhD/DBA in Public Administration, Public Policy, Governance, Public Management, Political Science, or a closely related field from a recognized university.

Lecturer: Master's degree in Public Administration, Public Policy, Governance, Public Management, or a closely related field from a recognized university; public-sector experience is preferred.

Associate Professor candidates should demonstrate strong peer-reviewed publications, supervision, academic leadership, and service.

Ability to teach effectively in Arabic is strongly preferred; bilingual Arabic-English communication is highly desirable.

Evidence of teaching effectiveness and ability to teach online/hybrid courses using relevant learning technologies.

Experience with quality assurance, AACSB/OAAAQA/OQF-aligned assessment, CLO/PLO mapping, moderation, and accreditation documentation is strongly preferred.

Preferred qualifications and experience:

Experience in government, public-sector consultancy, policy research, executive training, or community engagement.

Familiarity with Oman Vision 2040, public administration reforms, digital government, sustainability, and governance issues in Oman/GCC.

Experience supervising postgraduate research and supporting applied policy projects.

AACSB-aligned contribution expected:

Maintain academic/professional currency appropriate to the appointed rank and faculty qualification category.

Contribute to faculty sufficiency, teaching effectiveness, Assurance of Learning, curriculum improvement, research impact, and engagement with professional/community stakeholders.

Provide evidence for course files, assessment moderation, closing-the-loop actions, and accreditation-related reporting when required.
