Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Duties & Responsibilities (shall include but not be limited to):

  • Ensure lifting equipment is checked before use and fit for purpose, and that current color code I.D. and SWL is clearly marked; follow lifting equipment quarantine procedures.

  • Carry out daily, weekly, and monthly crane checks and maintenance as per planned maintenance system and manufacturer s recommendations; report any defects immediately.

  • Report any damage or incidents that occur to the crane or structure during lifting operations immediately to the Barge Engineer.

  • Ensure all lifting and rigging operations, supply boat and deck lifts are controlled and carried out safely.

  • Perform all work according to agreed expectations of both internal and external customers, focus on doing things right the first time, every time, and contribute actively to continual improvement activities.

  • Comply with company s Code of Conduct.

  • Take active role with well control drills, if required.

  • Ensure authorized lift plans, risk assessments and procedures are in place prior to lifts, and that crane operations are carried out within the operational parameters.

  • Actively work alongside the deck crew.

  • Assist planning work for deck crew before work commences and include relevant personnel in the planning process.

  • Contribute to the effective execution of mechanical lifting operations.

  • Operate cranes in accordance with Company procedures, agreed plans and manufacturers recommendations.

  • Ensure cranes and all associated lifting equipment are used in accordance with manufacturers specifications and lifting operations manual.

  • Monitor and maintain rigging loft, if applicable.

  • Assist with the maintenance and servicing of cranes, associated components and lifting equipment in accordance with plans, procedures, and maintenance schedules.

  • Show active participation in Hazard Management and Stop Work activities.

  • Effectively contribute to Management of Change and Non-Conformance Management through compliance with Change and Non-Conformance Procedures.

  • Actively participate in all safety meetings and contribute with relevant points.

  • Prepare handover reports for supervisor and relief, and advise the latter verbally of current, past, and impending operations.

  • Assist with audits and follow up on outstanding audit points to bring them to completion.

  • Review Company documentation with crew members as required.

  • Participate in document revisions as required.

  • Assist in the management of the mentoring process in accordance with the Mentoring Program.

  • Conduct formal and informal performance appraisals, which include measuring performance.

  • Demonstrate leadership through personal responsibility and accountability.

  • Participate in Competence program.

  • Assist and supervise in accordance with supervisory roles and responsibilities.

  • Liaise with supply vessel staff.

  • Shows commitment to ARO safety culture through personal behavior and willingness to influence others.

  • Participates in rig safety meetings and other rig safety programs.

  • Under the direction of the Crane Operator inspects and trains personnel to inspect rig safety apparatus and equipment for meeting company and industry regulations.

  • Follows company s control of work process.

  • Assures that all lifts are within load limits of equipment and are correctly rigged.

  • Assists in the orientation and training of new Roustabouts regarding helicopter safety, high noise area safety, safety appliance use, lifeboat assignment, general alarm, etc.

  • Performs tasks assigned by Crane Operator during rig moving procedures.

  • Ensure activities are conducted in compliance with the company Permit to Work system.

  • Assist in corporate and regulatory inspections as required.

  • Responsible for creating an environment in which open communications concerning safety issues can occur at the appropriate levels in the organization for appropriate action and resolution.

  • Assists in maintaining up to date Crane record books.

  • Assists in training Roustabouts regarding proper methods of rigging loads to be hoisted or moved and proper lifting techniques for carrying load by hand with emphasis on personal safety.

  • Responsible to keep up with training requirements for position and submit training request in time to keep all certification current.

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Saudi Nationals hold a valid driver license and Aramco Heavy Equipment License for operating offshore pedestal mounted cranes.

  • Other Nationalities: Completion of reputable 3rd Party training and certification for operating offshore pedestal mounted cranes.

  • One-year experience as a certified Crane Operator or Assistant Crane Operator for another offshore drilling company and/or completion of the ARO On Job Training (OJT) program for Assistant Crane Operator preferred.

Skills:

  • Good interpersonal skills and excellent team working and organizational skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively. Must be able to Read/Write/Speak English Fluently. Bilingual with the additional ability to communicate in Arabic is preferred.

  • Physically capable of being transported to an offshore rig by boat or helicopter.

  • Must be capable of working in a confined Marine environment.

  • Must have excellent conflict resolution skills and be able to diplomatically handle confrontation.

  • Must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all of the employer s safety policies and rules and must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel.

  • Be able to maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the employer s sole discretion.

  • Be available and willing to travel to such locations and with such frequency as the employer determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.

  • Physically capable of performing emergency procedures including evacuations, fire drills, and other Emergencies.

  • Responsible for own personal safety and the safety of co-workers.
