Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate effectively with publishers and vendors to obtain quotations and information about new publications.
- Verify the availability of requested materials in the library collection before initiating any purchase request.
- Evaluate offers from different publishers and select the most cost-effective option.
- Utilize the Koha Integrated Library System (ILS) to manage acquisition processes and maintain accurate records.
- Coordinate with the academic staff to identify and prioritize their resource requests.
- Review and monitor the library s acquisition budget, ensuring that purchase requests align with the allocated funds for each faculty or department.
- Ensure that the items ordered match the specifications requested and follow up with suppliers as needed.
- Facilitate the transfer of received materials including books and journals to the cataloging department for processing.
- Notify the academic staff upon the arrival and availability of newly acquired resources.
- Maintain awareness of major international publishing platforms such as Amazon and other global book suppliers.
- Demonstrate familiarity with major academic databases and digital resources.
- Stay up to date with the latest developments and acquisitions across all library branches and faculties
Desired Candidate Profile
Bachelors degree in library sciences
Masters degree is a plus
1-2 years of experience in library operation or similar administrative work
