Assistant Pet Groomer

We are looking for a Pet Groomer (Assistant), who will be responsible for the care and appearance of animals, typically dogs and cats, through grooming services such as bathing, brushing, clipping nails, and trimming fur. The job involves interacting with pet owners to understand their preferences and ensure the comfort and safety of the animals throughout the grooming process. Additionally, as a pet groomer, you may also identify health issues or abnormalities in pets' skin, fur, or nails and communicate these findings to pet owners.

You should have excellent communication skills, patience, compassion for animals, and knowledge of grooming techniques and pet care products.

Responsibilities:

• Perform grooming tasks such as bathing, brushing, trimming, and styling pets according to client preferences and breed standards
• Trim pets' nails safely and efficiently
• Clean pets' ears to maintain hygiene and prevent infections.
• Provide anal gland expression services as needed
• Perform basic dental care tasks such as teeth brushing or scaling
• Observe pets for signs of health issues or abnormalities and report any concerns to pet owners
• Interact with pet owners to understand their grooming requirements and preferences, and provide excellent customer service
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the grooming area and equipment to ensure a safe and healthy environment for pets and staff
• Maintain accurate records of services provided, pet grooming histories, and client information
• Safely handle grooming tools and equipment such as clippers, scissors, brushes, and dryers
• Handle pets with care and compassion, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the grooming process
• Provide pet owners with information and advice on pet grooming, hygiene, and general care

Requirement:

• Proven experience as a pet groomer, preferably in a professional grooming salon or pet care facility
• Understanding of different pet breeds, their grooming requirements, and common health issues
• Proficiency in grooming techniques such as bathing, clipping, and styling.
• Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail are essential
• Ability to handle pets gently and patiently, especially those who may be anxious or difficult to groom
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with pet owners
• Grooming can be physically demanding, so applicants should be able to stand for long periods and lift pets as needed
• Certification or formal training in pet grooming is a plus, but not required
• Driving license required
