Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Production Planning & Control
Institute and maintain the overall mechanism for ensuring cross-functional collaboration, for execution of the sales order to final order dispatch process with higher accuracy, proactiveness and least lead time possible.
Review the weekly production plans for all production units of the organization, and guide the team in resolving challenges, minimizing ad-hoc changes, and maintaining high operational efficiencies.
Collaborate with other department heads to facilitate a process-bound and smooth coordination between production units and other relevant departments for raw materials, consumables, dispatch, etc.
Maintenance Coordination
Review the overall preventive maintenance framework and alignment to plant availability, downtime, and operational efficiencies objectives.
Guide the team to resolve major issues impacting the overall factory production or challenges spanning multiple production units.
Optimization Projects
Identify best practices, then review, approve and monitor the implementation of all optimization projects across the production units, including modification of manufacturing process, productivity improvements, lead time decrease, engineering, and manufacturing cost management projects, etc. to deliver specific value addition to the organization.
Lead and guide the team in implementing projects related to plant expansion, upgradation, or installation of specialized machinery, to enable achievement of operations objectives of the organization.
New Product Development
Review and approve new product development projects as part of a cross-functional committee, while presenting the operations perspective for feasibility analysis and future value add.
Evaluate and approve the resource planning and deputation for new product development projects and monitor the periodic progress of such projects.
Infrastructure Management
Work with team to ensure adequate capability development (skills, resources, infrastructure, etc.) for effective support to production units and enablement of operations business objectives.
Strategy & Operational Business Plans
Formulate and implement the department's strategy in line with Ducast’s vision, strategic (3-5 year) and business (1-3 year) plans.
Ensure that strategy is translated into annual objectives for Ducast.
Monitor team's initiatives, to ensure overall adherence to the approved strategy and objectives.
Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures
Design and implement approved departmental policies, processes, and procedures, to ensure work is completed out in a controlled and consistent manner while delivering a best-in-class service.
Manage cost-efficient utilization of all applicable resources to reduce wastage and unnecessary expense.
Quality, Health, Safety, & Environment (QHSSE)
Adhere to all relevant QHSSE procedures, instructions, and controls so that the organization provides a safe, world class, secure and environmentally responsible service to customers, the public, and its own people.
Leadership/ People Management/ Supervision of Subordinates
Organize and supervise the activities and work of direct reports to ensure that all work within a specific team is completed to the required standards and in line with organization's operating policies and procedures.
Provide on-the-job training and constructive feedback to direct reports to support their overall development.
Manage the team by overseeing their performance management, recruitment, training, and development to ensure high levels of engagement and competence.
Continuous Improvement
Motivate team and contribute towards identifying opportunities for continuous improvement across one’s scope of work, in order to achieve the organization's mission, vision and strategy.
Share ideas and viewpoints to further streamline processes, thus driving efficiency and improvements across the organization.
Change Management
Motivate subordinates and contribute to the identification of opportunities to take part in change initiatives, programs and projects that reflect best practices and changes in the competitive environment.
Desired Candidate Profile
Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, manufacturing management, or a related field is preferred for foundational knowledge.
5-7 years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment, demonstrating a clear understanding of production processes and challenges.
At least 5 years’ experience in Production/Factory head related roles in metal/alloy casting industry.
