Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), Dhofar University, Sultanate of Oman, invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor (starting in Fall 2026 27) in the field of Power Engineering. Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in areas such as power systems, power generation, renewable energy systems, power electronics, smart grids, power system protection, or related fields.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses, supervising students projects, and engaging in active research within their area of specialization. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field, demonstrate excellence in teaching, possess strong research potential, and have effective communication skills. The medium of instruction is English.

Desired Candidate Profile

A Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (Power Engineering specialization) or a closely related field.

  • In-depth subject knowledge and expertise in Power Engineering and related areas.
  • Experience (minimum of two years) in teaching and developing laboratory courses in introductory and advanced power engineering subjects.
  • Experience in power systems, renewable energy integration, smart grid technologies, or power electronics applications is highly desirable.
  • Ability to develop and deliver innovative and effective teaching and learning materials.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with good planning and organizational abilities and demonstrated teamwork.
  • Demonstrable ability to communicate complex concepts clearly in both oral and written English.
  • Ability to conduct research in power engineering areas, develop research proposals, secure research funding, and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
  • Strong publication record in reputable peer-reviewed journals.
