Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Resident Engineer (Structures) to support the supervision of major structural works, with a particular emphasis on steel bridge construction. The role will also cover other structural components including reinforced concrete bridges, retaining walls, culverts, and heavy concrete structures. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in quality control, monitoring construction, and ensuring compliance with technical standards and authority requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Senior Resident Engineer in overseeing steel bridge and other structural works on site.
  • Monitor contractor s daily activities to ensure adherence to specifications, drawings, and approved methods.
  • Support review of structural shop drawings, fabrication drawings for steel bridges, bar bending schedules, and method statements.
  • Conduct inspections of steel fabrication, erection works, formwork, reinforcement, and concrete pours.
  • Assist in structural testing procedures (e.g., weld inspections, bolt torque checks, pile integrity testing, slump tests, cube testing).
  • Maintain detailed site records, issue reports, and assist in managing site correspondence.
  • Liaise with QA/QC engineers and safety officers to enforce compliance with specifications and safety standards.
  • Support the resolution of site queries and technical issues in coordination with design teams.


Qualifications And Experience

  • Bachelor s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum 12 years of relevant structural supervision experience, including extensive experience in steel bridge construction.
  • Proven background in infrastructure or transportation projects, with at least 3 years in Abu Dhabi.
  • Strong knowledge of concrete structures, steelworks, bridge design, and construction.
  • Familiarity with international and local codes (e.g., AASHTO, BS, ACI, ADM).
  • UAE experience is an advantage, particularly in a consultant supervision capacity.
