Job Description

Position Summary
AUIB is seeking a dynamic and experienced Associate Director of Human Resources to drive its mission of delivering excellence in higher education through innovative HR practices and inclusive leadership. In this pivotal role, the Associate Director will lead operational HR services, mentor HR staff, strengthen institutional culture, and ensure legal compliance while supporting university-wide strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
1. HR Operations Leadership:
Oversee day-to-day HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, training, compensation, and HRIS.
2. Strategic HR Support:
Assist the Director in developing and implementing HR strategies that align with AUIB s mission and evolving needs.
3. Talent and Team Development:
Mentor and support HR staff to enhance team performance and service delivery across departments.
4. Policy and Compliance Oversight:
Develop and implement HR policies aligned with Iraqi Labor Law and international best practices, ensuring compliance and transparency.
5. Employee Engagement and Culture:
Drive engagement initiatives and foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance work environment.
Ideal Candidate Profile
1. Strategic Leadership:
Proven ability to align HR initiatives with institutional goals and execute with clarity.
2. Higher Education or International Experience:
Familiarity with academic environments or global organizations, especially in multicultural settings.
3. Strong Interpersonal Skills:
A collaborative communicator who can engage effectively across all levels of the university.
4. Cultural Awareness and Adaptability:
Demonstrated sensitivity to diverse perspectives in a cross-cultural workplace.
5. Process Improvement Orientation:
A proactive approach to streamlining HR processes and enhancing employee experience.
Education and Experience

Required Education: Bachelor s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field.
Minimum of 7 recent years in progressive HR roles, including at least 4 years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
Specific Skills or Expertise:
Expertise in HR operations
Familiarity with Iraqi Labor Law
Talent development
Conflict resolution
HR systems (HRIS) and reporting
Additional Certifications: SHRM-CP, PHR, CIPD or equivalent certification preferred.
