Roles & Responsibilities

Essential Responsibilities:

The designee is responsible for guiding and assisting host nation in the overall the safe and orderly flow of air traffic within their designated airspace. This designee maintains situational awareness of the overall flow of air traffic operations at the facility assigned and is responsible for all ATC facility operations and services during their shift. Rules of separation must be applied to achieve the required separation as outlined in FAA manuals and orders. The designee coordinates with various controllers and personnel to relay information which pertains to the aircraft and in the interest of safety of flight including emergency information. The designee will be familiar with radar or control tower operations and apply the required separation of aircraft. The individual is responsible for vehicles and personnel operating on the airfield- when operating in a control tower environment.

Along with controlling aircraft the designee must be able to process flight plans and supervise approach, departure, and arrival procedures. The designee will have a full working knowledge of control tower operations and flight planning and a fundamental knowledge of RADAR/Manual approach control operations when operating in a control tower. Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Graduate of an approved DoD or FAA ATC course.
  • Eight (8) years of experience, one (1) year of experience must be from performing in a like type facility. Knowledge of ATC rules, regulations, and techniques; control tower and approach control operations. Tower controllers shall hold one of the following tower certifications: FAA Control Tower Operator (CTO) certificate, FAA or AOV Credential with Tower rating, or equivalent. Radar controllers shall hold one of the following radar certifications: Air Traffic Control Specialist (ATCS) certificate, FAA or AOV Credential with Radar rating, FAA or DoD training records, or equivalent.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain FAA Class II Medical Certificate
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US CENTCOM Medical Exam
  • Must have or be able to obtain/maintain a US Government Secret Security Clearance. NOTE: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Desired Candidate Profile
