Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of ATC technicians to carry out all level of preventive and corrective maintenance and minor modifications activities on automatic train control system covering System Management Centre, Vehicle Control Centre, central control (vital and non-vital), vehicle on-board equipment and lineside equipment.
  • Supervise the installation, servicing and repairing of signalling and train control systems located in operations control centre, signalling equipment room, station signalling equipment rooms, depot signalling equipment rooms, along trackside and on-board trains.
  • Ensure the team uses proper hand, machine, electrical and electronic tools and reference to technical drawings, signalling schematics, manuals, procedures and instructions when performing repair and maintenance work.
  • Supervise the replacement of faulty signalling equipment, handover/taken back to the electronics workshop for repair.
  • Produce and maintain accurate maintenance records of automatic train control system and equipment performance, work accomplished and other information using a computerised maintenance management system.
  • Ensure the maintenance tools and equipment are in good condition.
  • Provide technical support to other staff for the implementation of complex systems or new projects.
  • Assist subordinates with the job familiarisation and to provide training and assessment where required.
  • Perform shift and emergency duties when required.
  • Drive work vehicles when responding to emergencies and when required on duty.
  • Perform and carry out duties as instructed/ directed by the ATC Engineer.

Key Skills

  • Must have good eyesight and normal colour vision.
  • Strong analytical mind, and ability to grasp the complexity of a software based signalling and train control system.
  • Ability to use and calibrate various electronic test equipment and PC for the maintenance of central, wayside and on-board signalling equipment.
  • Ability to write simple technical reports, routine business correspondence, prepare method statements and drawings as required.
  • Possess good communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and work productively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong organisational skills, detail oriented, and the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Hold a valid UAE driving license with good driving skill and experience.

Desired Candidate Profile

Vocational trade certificate or ordinary diploma in electrical or mechanical engineering discipline or equivalent. IRSE license on railway signalling equipment is will be an added advantage.
