Role & responsibilities

1. Assessment & Diagnosis

Conduct hearing tests such as pure tone audiometry, speech audiometry, and tympanometry

Diagnose hearing loss, tinnitus, and balance disorders

Evaluate patients of all age groups, from newborns to elderly individuals

2. Hearing Aid Services

Recommend suitable hearing aids based on patient needs

Fit, program, and adjust hearing devices

Provide training on usage, maintenance, and care of hearing aids

3. Rehabilitation & Therapy

Provide auditory training and speech-reading (lip-reading) guidance

Offer counseling to patients and families about hearing loss

Assist in cochlear implant rehabilitation

4. Balance Disorder Management

Assess vestibular (balance) disorders

Conduct tests like videonystagmography (VNG)

Suggest therapy or refer to specialists if needed

5. Newborn & Pediatric Hearing Screening

Perform newborn hearing screening programs

Identify early hearing impairments in children

Guide parents on early intervention strategies

6. Patient Education & Counseling

Educate patients on hearing protection and prevention of hearing loss

Counsel individuals dealing with tinnitus or permanent hearing loss

Provide emotional support and communication strategies

7. Collaboration with Healthcare Team

Work with ENT specialists, speech therapists, and neurologists

Refer patients for medical or surgical treatment when required

8. Record Keeping & Documentation

Maintain detailed patient records and test results

Monitor patient progress and update treatment plans

9. Research & Continuous Learning

Stay updated with new hearing technologies and treatment methods

Participate in research and clinical studies
