Roles & Responsibilities
Your day to day
The AV Technician is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining all audio-visual equipment and systems used in the hotels event spaces, conference rooms, public areas, and guest service initiatives. The role ensures that meetings, events, entertainment programs, and digital services run smoothly with top-quality sound, visuals, and connectivity. In a resort or island setting, the technician is also expected to be resourceful and proactive due to the limited immediate technical support available.
Setup & Operation
- Prepare and set up AV equipment for meetings, weddings, conferences, entertainment shows, and special events.
- Operate audio mixers, microphones, speakers, projectors, video walls, smart screens, lighting systems, video conferencing tools, and other multimedia systems.
- Ensure equipment is functioning properly before, during, and after events; provide on-site support for presenters or performers.
- Perform daily checks, maintenance, and inventory control of AV equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to sound, video, lighting, projection, or connectivity on the spot.
- Repair or coordinate repairs of damaged or malfunctioning equipment.
- Liaise with event planners, banquet managers, and guests to understand AV requirements and provide professional support.
- Offer basic training or support for guest speakers using AV systems (e.g., connecting laptops, using microphones, playing media).
- Support the integration of AV with hotel IT systems, including digital signage, IPTV, and background music systems.
- Assist with AV for in-room technology (TVs, Bluetooth, smart controls), especially in villas or suites with premium setups.
- Keep accurate records of AV usage, issues, and maintenance.
- Provide feedback and improvement ideas for AV setups, technologies, or guest experience enhancements.
- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organization in all AV storage and control areas.
- Diploma or technical certificate in Audio-Visual Technology, Electronics, IT, or a related field.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a similar AV technician role, preferably in a hotel, resort, or event venue.
- Hands-on experience with:
- Sound systems (mixers, amplifiers, speakers)
- Video conferencing tools (Zoom, Teams, Webex)
- Projectors, LED screens, smart TVs
- Lighting control panels and stage lighting
- AV over IP and wireless presentation systems
- Basic understanding of network and IT systems integration is a plus.
