The position carries responsibility for teaching band to middle and high school students. Position Duties The successful candidate will be expected to: Demonstrate commitment to the safety and security of children and young people ( child protection ). Plan and deliver lessons in accordance with the goals and objectives of a clearly defined and documented curriculum. Deliver instrumental musical instruction. Direct MS/HS instrumental performers, such as orchestra, concert band and ensembles. Conduct band rehearsal. Provide for band participation at extracurricular events, including concerts, pep rallies, etc. Accompany and supervise students on in-kingdom and out-of-kingdom musical trip. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Deliver an active, hands-on and student-centred programme to promote learning. Maintain students attendance records, grades and other required records. Evaluate and grade students class work and assignments. Compile, administer, and grade examinations. Assist students who need extra help with their coursework outside of class. Observe, monitor and record student progress. Respond appropriately to the range of individual needs and abilities within the class. Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, and course materials and methods of instruction. Keep abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences. Collaborate with colleagues to address teaching and research issues. Demonstrate creativity. Serve on academic or administrative committees that deal with institutional policies, departmental matters, and academic issues. Provide supervision to a student after school activity or coach/assistant coach the athletic team. Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Principal or Principal.
