Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Job Purpose
To be responsible for all aspects of bike maintenance and related equipment good and safe keeping of the workshop area and tools.
To assist the manager with ensuring the effective, efficient, and safe operation of the Velodrome bike fleet including (not exhaustive list) track, road, mountain bike, BMX, balance bikes, Watt bikes, spin bikes, turbo trainers, rollers.
To ensure that daily checks of shoe cleats, helmets and other cycling related equipment are completed and recorded to achieve agreed targets and objectives of bikes available for hire.
To maintain the velodrome surface and supported services, timing equipment and assist in the operations of the cycling programme.
Roles, Responsibilities, Duties
Management of the fleet of bikes log system.
To deliver basic cycle maintenance training to staff and the apprentices.
To provide appropriate mechanical support in other areas within the VeloPark.
To assist in ensuring the highest standards of customer care.
To assist with cycling and other events including related technical matters.
Operate efficiently whilst maximizing the commercial aims and objectives of the business.
The post holder is required to liaise with a wide range of administrative and support staff including:
Internal: Commercial team. Facility Management. Hudayriyat Sport. Marketing and Communications. Safety Officers.
External: Local Authority. NGB’s and Partners. Schools and associated agencies. Delivery Partners. Workforce, Volunteers, and Sports event Functional area representatives.
To lead in the supervision, control and ensure safety of the bike fleet and related bike equipment, all visitors and customers using the bike fleet.
To manage the purchase of consumables and parts and to maintain adequate stock levels.
To assist in ensuring adequate tools and equipment are always available to fulfil the requirements of bike fleet management.
To lead on track surface maintenance on a weekly and reactive basis, collaborating with the manager and wider maintenance team to ensure operational security of cycling activities and events.
To lead in the development, monitoring and management of the bike fleet planned preventative programme and reactive repairs programme to ensure all maintenance and repairs are completed and records are maintained for all bikes and safe operational plans are implemented.
To ensure that unsafe bikes are taken out of action and devise and help develop and manage a clear system and log for such actions and records system for all works undertaken.
To provide a point of contact for all bike maintenance and bike fleet management issues.
To work in partnership with original suppliers (and others) and other third-party contractors as appropriate.
To ensure the Velodromes and Modon’s health & Safety regulations are met by all customers and visitors in all areas under your control and to provide advice when appropriate.
To ensure areas including bike storage, kit out rooms, mechanics room, outer corridor, bike wash stations and other applicable areas are always kept clean and tidy.
When available and required assist staff with kitting out customers, checking of receipts as well.
To develop positive working relationships with other facilities and the Modon Staff.
Qualification:
· Cytech level 2 or equivalent
· 2+ years’ experience in cycle maintenance delivery (ideally with knowledge of velodrome environments).
· Understanding of rental terms and conditions.
· Understanding of Sport Federations/UCI operating models and Sport Industry standards.
· Fluent in English, other languages are a plus.
Experience and Competencies:

· Demonstrable experience of planning, organising, and managing rental fleets.
· Computer literate at a level that enables execution of tasks, which can be complex, with administrative software.
