Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Responsible for overseeing the finishing processes of printed products (cutting, folding, sewing, gluing) to ensure quality and adherence to deadlines. This includes managing the binding team, maintaining machinery, verifying that the final product meets technical specifications, and organizing work to minimize downtime and improve production efficiency.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

Operational Supervision: Overseeing the daily activities of the binding and finishing department (manual or automated).

Quality Control: Inspecting printed and bound products to ensure they are free of defects and meet client standards.

Team Management: Assigning tasks to technicians, training them, and evaluating their performance.

Equipment Maintenance: Overseeing the maintenance of binding machines (scrappers, sewing machines, gluers) and ensuring their readiness.

Planning and Scheduling: Organizing workflow to ensure adherence to order delivery deadlines.

Materials Management: Monitoring the consumption of binding materials (paper, glue, threads) and preparing production reports.

  • Oversee and manage all binding and finishing operations to ensure timely and high-quality output.
  • Lead, train, and supervise the binding team, fostering a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate workflow between pre-press, press, and post-press departments to optimize production schedules.
  • Monitor equipment performance, schedule regular maintenance, and coordinate with technical teams for repairs.
  • Implement and uphold quality control standards throughout the binding process.
  • Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all binding activities.
  • Manage inventory of binding materials and supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels and timely reordering.
  • Analyze production data to identify areas for process improvement and cost reduction.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations within the binding department.
  • Collaborate with management to plan for capacity expansion, technology upgrades, and staff development.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in binding, print finishing, or related operations within the printing industry.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing teams in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong understanding of offset printing processes and post-press operations.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with binding machinery.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Experience implementing quality control and safety standards.
  • Ability to analyze production metrics and drive process improvements.
  • Familiarity with inventory management and procurement processes.
  • Willingness to work onsite in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
