Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • 1. Field knowledge of WFT, DFT, blasting profile gauge, needle gauge, dew point meter, etc.
  • The Blasting and Painting QC Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all surface preparation and coating applications comply with project specifications, approved procedures, and international standards, such as NACE, SSPC, and Aramco's SAES standards. This role involves monitoring, inspecting, and documenting all blasting and painting activities to guarantee the integrity and quality of corrosion protection.
  • 2. Key ResponsibilitiesInspection and Documentation:
  • Conduct pre-inspection of surfaces to ensure they are free of contaminants like oil, grease, and weld spatter.
  • Verify the qualifications of all blasters and painters involved in the project.
  • Perform regular inspection of equipment, including blasting pots, hoses, nozzles, and spray systems, to ensure they are in good working condition and properly calibrated.
  • Ensure all blasting and painting materials are stored and handled according to manufacturer specifications and have valid batch certificates.
  • Perform visual inspection of blasted surfaces to verify cleanliness and profile, and check for soluble salt contamination.
  • Monitor and record atmospheric conditions (temperature, relative humidity, dew point) during surface preparation and coating application.
  • Measure and verify wet film thickness (WFT) and dry film thickness (DFT) of each coating layer.
  • Conduct various tests, including adhesion tests and holiday detection tests for pinholes and discontinuities in the coating.
  • Quality Management:
  • Prepare and raise Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), inspection requests (RFIs), and non-conformance reports (NCRs) for any deviations from project standards.
  • Coordinate with the client and third-party inspectors for all witness and hold points as per the ITP.
  • Review and approve subcontractor quality control procedures, method statements, and technical submittals.
  • Maintain detailed daily inspection records, test results, and final quality dossiers.
  • HSE Compliance:
  • Enforce and adhere to the highest safety standards during all blasting and painting activities.
  • Ensure proper personal protective equipment (PPE) is used and that all safety protocols are followed.
  • 3. Required Qualifications and CertificationsA bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field is often preferred, though a technical diploma with significant experience is also common.
  • Mandatory: NACE (Level 1, 2, or 3) or BGAS (Grade 1 or 2) certification is typically required for this role.
  • Experience in the oil, gas, or petrochemical industry is essential, with specific experience in the Middle East being highly valued

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Candidates should be from Mechanical Engineering backgroundMust have NACE Level 2 certification with valid documents (Kindly check expiry dates)
  • Experience working on ARAMCO projectsARAMCO approval not mandatory but must be familiar with APCS requirements
  • Knowledge of PQP and procedure preparation in line with ARAMCO standardsAbility to prepare RFIs as per ARAMCO formats
