Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Prepare meat for consumer using a wide variety of processes. Responsible for handling, deboning, trimming, tying, grinding, or tenderizing cuts of meat, and be in charge of packaging, weighing, labeling, and pricing the goods.


· Arrange cuts of meat and place them in an attractive manner in the display case so that customers will wish to purchase them.

· Weigh, label and price a variety of cuts of meat for on-demand selections by customers in an efficient manner that keeps customers satisfied.

· Use skewers, bone knives, twine and other tools to lace, tie and shape roasts so that they are ready for customers to buy and cook.

· Prepare meat into forms ready for cooking using a variety of actions, including cutting and trimming to make it easier for customers.

· Educate customers on different selections and types of meat like beef, lamb etc. to help them decide what to purchase.

· Maintain and clean the meat preparation counter to reduce the risk of food contamination and adhere to food safety guidelines.

· Receive deliveries of meat and inspect them to ensure that they adhere to the highest quality standards and are not expired.

· Keeping records, budgets, and inventory.

· Performing quality inspections on meats and other products.

· Adhering to food safety and sanitation controls.

· Greeting and speaking to customers, providing advice, answering questions, and accepting orders

· Comply with reasonable OSH instructions and safe working procedures;

· Ensure use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems;

· Be familiar with emergency evacuation procedures;

· Not wilfully or recklessly endanger anyone’s health and safety;

· Assist with the preparation of risk assessments; and

Report OSH hazards, incidents, and issues.

Desired Candidate Profile

Education:

· High school diploma or equivalent

Experience:

· 1-2 years’ experience as a butcher

Skills Knowledge and Abilities:

· Excellent oral and verbal communication skills

· Knowledge of food safety

· Maintain excellent standard of self-hygiene including proper and clean uniform and appearance with the mandatory
