As a CAD Technician - Utilities, you will play a crucial role in the engineering and construction industries, focusing specifically on utility-specific projects. Your work will involve creating and modifying detailed drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software, translating project requirements into schematics and drawings that allow for successful project completion. This position requires a strong attention to detail, a solid understanding of utility systems, and proficiency in CAD software. You will work closely with engineers, project managers, and other team members to ensure the accuracy of utility layouts and that all components meet industry standards and specifications. Your contributions will be essential in facilitating smooth operations and supporting the utility infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for utility projects using CAD software.
• Collaborate with project engineers and managers to understand project requirements and objectives.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations.
• Revise and update existing drawings, incorporating changes as necessary.
• Coordinate with other departments to incorporate multidisciplinary inputs into designs.
• Maintain thorough documentation for all drawings and design changes made during projects.
• Conduct field visits to gather data and verify design feasibility where required.
• Assist in the development of utility maps and GIS databases as needed.
• Provide technical support and assistance to junior CAD technicians and team members.
• Utilize software tools to generate three-dimensional models of utility projects.
• Participate in project meetings to discuss design progress and resolve issues.
• Ensure all project deliverables are completed accurately and on time.

Requirements

• A diploma or degree in drafting, engineering technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a CAD Technician, preferably within utility sectors.
• Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar tools.
• Strong understanding of utility systems and infrastructure project requirements.
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with engineering teams.
• Good problem-solving skills to address design and implementation challenges.
• Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects.
