In a move aimed at further boosting tourism and regional connectivity, the United Arab Emirates has introduced a new e-visa scheme for expatriates residing in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. This 30-day e-visa will offer a convenient and hassle-free way for GCC residents to explore the vibrant attractions and experiences that the UAE has to offer.

The new e-visa initiative is designed to cater to the growing demand for leisure and business travel between the GCC states and the UAE. By simplifying the visa application process, the UAE aims to attract more visitors from neighboring countries and strengthen regional ties.

Key benefits of the 30-day e-visa:

  • Convenience: Applicants can apply for the e-visa online from the comfort of their homes or offices, eliminating the need for physical visits to visa centers.
  • Speed: The e-visa application process is streamlined and efficient, ensuring a quick turnaround time for approvals.
  • Multiple Entries: The visa allows for multiple entries into the UAE within the 30-day validity period, providing flexibility for short trips and business meetings.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for the 30-day e-visa, applicants must:

  • Be a resident of one of the GCC countries (Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, or the UAE).
  • Hold a valid passport with a minimum of six months' validity.
  • Have a confirmed return or onward ticket.
  • Meet the general visa requirements, such as providing proof of accommodation and financial means.

Application Process:

The e-visa application can be completed through the official UAE government website. Applicants will need to provide personal details, passport information, travel itinerary, and other required documents. Once the application is submitted and approved, the e-visa will be electronically linked to the applicant's passport.

Visa Requirements

To apply for the 30-day e-visa, GCC residents will need to provide the following documents:

  • Valid passport: The passport must be valid for at least six months beyond the intended departure date.
  • Return or onward ticket: A confirmed flight reservation for departure from the UAE.
  • Proof of accommodation: Evidence of hotel bookings or a letter of invitation from a host in the UAE.
  • Financial means: Proof of sufficient funds to cover accommodation, transportation, and other expenses during the stay in the UAE. This can be demonstrated through bank statements, credit card statements, or traveler's checks.

Visa Extensions:

While the initial e-visa is valid for 30 days, it may be possible to extend the stay for those who wish to remain in the UAE longer. However, the extension process and requirements may differ from the initial visa application. It's recommended to contact the UAE immigration authorities or a visa agent well in advance to inquire about the extension procedures and fees.

Things To Know:

  • Multiple entries: The 30-day e-visa typically allows for multiple entries into the UAE within the validity period, providing flexibility for short trips or business meetings.
  • Dependent visas: If you're traveling with dependents, such as children or spouses, they may need to apply for their own visas separately. The requirements and fees for dependent visas may vary.

The introduction of the 30-day e-visa for GCC residents is a significant step towards enhancing regional tourism and strengthening economic cooperation. By making it easier for people to travel between the UAE and neighboring countries, the government aims to boost the country's tourism industry and promote cultural exchange.
