Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
In this role, You will;
- Responsible for undertaking regular inspection and audits of equipment, facilities, personnel compliance to standard operating procedures aimed at reducing unsafe practices, accidents and incidents involving people, equipment and property.
- Regularly inspect staff driving permits and equipment permits/licenses, assist in training programmes for operating equipment such as forklifts, ETV, Truck Docks, Slave Pallet movers, Tractors and other related cargo handling equipment, liaise with administration on license issues with regard to equipment and staff.
- Monitor equipment and facility for damage through daily inspections and liaise with maintenance for appropriate repair.
- Participate in accident and incident investigations with SkyCargo and safety by assisting duty Controllers and duty Managers to identify the root causes.
- Prepare reports to management on damages and maintain a log report for future reference.
- In co-ordination with SkyCargo administration conduct various drills and initiate actions based on the feedback reports to improve the emergency response system as and when required. Provide input to management on improvements which are needed.
- Ensure regular inspection of equipment and recording of damages by operational staff prior to commencement and during closure of shift in the respective check sheets.
- Monitor the integrity of the equipment hand over process and highlight areas of concern for appropriate action to SkyCargo administration and duty Controllers.
- Ensure through briefing sessions the need for staff to report damages and near misses in proper format. Assist in the investigation of near miss causes and initiate appropriate action through administration and Duty Controllers to proactively reduce potential cases of accidents and incidents.
- Regularly provide feedback on all issues related to operational practices, safety and equipment training with the aim of improving standards and controls. Provide inputs to shift controller on changes required in standard operating procedures and work instructions to ensure the deployment of equipment and establishment of safe working practices
Desired Candidate Profile
To be considered for this role, you must meet the below requirements;
- 10 years of schooling or equivalent.
- 1+ years working in Cargo / Logistics.
- Experience in Air Cargo in a ground handling section.
- Should have completed basic cargo and Dangerous goods courses.
- Understanding of SkyChain systems.
