Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood and other materials according to specifications.
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to understand project requirements.
Install structures and fixtures such as doors, windows, cabinets, partitions, and furniture.
Repair and maintain wooden structures, fittings, and fixtures.
Prepare surfaces by sanding, planing, and smoothing for finishing.
Apply finishes such as varnish, polish, laminate, or paint to completed work.
Operate and maintain hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently.
Ensure accuracy in measurements and alignment during installation.
Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards and client requirements are met.
Collaborate with other workers (designers, contractors, supervisors) on projects.
Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
Estimate material requirements and assist in cost control.
Desired Candidate Profile
Proven experience as a carpenter in construction, furniture making, or interior fit-out.
Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, materials (hardwood, softwood, MDF, plywood), and tools.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
Skilled in using hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently.
Good understanding of measuring, cutting, shaping, and assembling materials with precision.
Experience in installation of doors, windows, cabinets, and other wooden fixtures.
Knowledge of finishing techniques such as sanding, polishing, staining, and varnishing.
Basic understanding of repairs, maintenance, and troubleshooting carpentry issues.
Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
Physical stamina and ability to handle manual labor.
Good problem-solving and time management skills.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Strong awareness of workplace safety standards and practices.
Basic communication skills for understanding instructions and client requirements.
