Cartography Expert The Geographic Planning Collaborative (GPC) Group

Key Responsibilities:

• Cartographic Design:
  Design and create maps that effectively communicate spatial information using GIS software and cartographic principles. Ensure that maps are accurate, visually appealing, and user-friendly. Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and ArcGIS Pro is essential for enhanced map design and integration.
• Data Collection:
  Collect and compile geographic data from various sources, including aerial imagery, satellite imagery, surveys, and fieldwork. Verify the accuracy and quality of collected data.
• Spatial Analysis:
  Perform spatial analysis and geoprocessing tasks to extract meaningful insights from geographic data. Use GIS tools to analyze spatial relationships and patterns.
• Data Management:
  Organize and maintain spatial databases, ensuring data integrity and accessibility. Update and manage GIS datasets as needed.
• Map Production:
  Produce maps for a wide range of applications, including environmental studies, urban planning, transportation, and more. Customize maps based on project requirements. Utilize Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator for high-quality map rendering and visual enhancements.
• Collaboration:
  Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, urban planners, environmental scientists, and project managers, to provide GIS support and expertise.
• Documentation:
  Document cartographic processes, data sources, and methodology for future reference and quality control purposes.
• GIS Software and Tools:
  Stay up-to-date with the latest GIS software, tools, and technologies. Evaluate and recommend GIS software and hardware upgrades as needed. Leverage ArcGIS Pro alongside Adobe Creative Cloud tools to bridge the gap between GIS and graphic design.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor s degree in Geography, Cartography, GIS, or a related field. A Master s degree is a plus.
• Proven experience in cartography and GIS, including proficiency in software such as ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, or similar.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and ArcGIS Pro.
• Strong knowledge of cartographic principles and spatial analysis techniques.
• Familiarity with data collection methods, GPS technology, and remote sensing.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality maps and data.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
• GIS certification or relevant industry certifications is a plus.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience integrating GIS workflows with Adobe Creative Cloud tools.
• Knowledge of creating cartographic visualizations optimized for both print and digital platforms.
