You will operate cash registers, process purchases, handle returns, and answer customer inquiries while maintaining a clean and orderly checkout area. Your primary goal is to ensure customer satisfaction by providing prompt, courteous service. Effective cashiers possess strong numerical abilities, excellent communication skills, and acute attention to detail. You will need to have a good understanding of the products offered, be able to upsell when possible, and possess the ability to resolve customer issues amicably. This role is essential in creating a positive shopping experience that encourages repeat customers.

Responsibilities

• Operate cash registers and process customer purchases efficiently and accurately.
• Provide friendly and professional service, ensuring customer satisfaction at all times.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and appealing checkout area for customers.
• Handle returns and exchanges with patience and tact, adhering to store policies.
• Accept various forms of payment and issue receipts or change to customers.
• Assist customers with inquiries and provide product information as needed.
• Count and reconcile cash drawer at the beginning and end of shifts accurately.
• Monitor checkout stations to ensure adequate cash supply throughout the shift.
• Implement upselling strategies to enhance store revenue when appropriate.
• Participate in team meetings to discuss service and sales strategies.
• Resolve customer complaints or escalate them to management when necessary.
• Adhere to all safety, security, and operational standards set by the company.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is required for this position.
• Previous experience in a retail or customer service role preferred.
• Strong numeric and cash handling skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and manage physical tasks like lifting.
• Basic understanding of sales principles and customer service practices.
• Willingness to work various shifts including weekends and holidays as needed.
