Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
WAKA Restaurant in Ras Al-Khaimah, United Arab Emirates, is seeking a talented and experienced Chef de Cuisine to lead our culinary team. As the Chef de Cuisine, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, menu development, and maintaining the highest standards of food quality and presentation.
- Develop and implement innovative menu items that align with WAKA Restaurant's concept and clientele preferences
- Lead and mentor the kitchen team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness
- Manage food costs, inventory, and kitchen budget to maximize profitability
- Collaborate with the restaurant management team to enhance overall guest experience
- Stay current with culinary trends and incorporate them into menu offerings
- Oversee food preparation, plating, and quality control for all dishes
- Participate in staff recruitment, training, and performance evaluations
- Coordinate with suppliers to source high-quality ingredients, with a focus on local produce when possible
- Assist in marketing initiatives and special events to promote the restaurant
Desired Candidate Profile
- Culinary degree or diploma from a recognized culinary institution
- Minimum 2 - 3 years of experience in high-end restaurants, with previous experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar leadership role
- Proven expertise in international cuisine, particularly Asian fusion
- Advanced knowledge of culinary techniques, menu planning, and food cost management
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Proficiency in kitchen equipment operation and maintenance
- Up-to-date Food Safety Certification
- Thorough understanding of health and safety regulations in the food service industry
- Familiarity with UAE food regulations and local ingredients
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle high-pressure situations
- Creative problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
