Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Conduct inspections to verify that work is performed in accordance with contract specifications, approved drawings, and quality standards.

  • Conduct inspections to verify that work is performed in accordance with contract specifications, approved drawings, and quality standards.
  • Inspect construction activities related to roads, bridges, sidewalks, drainage systems, landscaping, and associated infrastructure improvements.
  • Monitor traffic control, storm water pollution prevention plan (SWPPP) compliance, and site safety practices.
  • Inspect installation of traffic signals, street lighting, ramp metering systems, and other electrical equipment.
  • Review irrigation systems, planting works, signage installation, and roadway delineation.
  • Monitor building and facility construction works and associated site development activities.
  • Capture daily project photographs, maintain organized records, and prepare daily inspection reports and diaries.
  • Verify that only approved materials are incorporated into the project works.
  • Conduct labor compliance interviews and maintain accurate as-built documentation.
  • Identify potential issues, conflicts, or non-conformance and recommend corrective actions to the supervisor.
  • Collect and maintain project documentation including Certificates of Compliance, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and inspection records.
  • Verify installed quantities to support progress payments and change order documentation.
  • Coordinate inspection activities with surveying and material testing consultants.
  • Support quality control processes and job safety practices across the project site.
  • Respond to site emergencies or call-backs when required.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior inspectors when needed.
  • Perform all duties in compliance with health, safety, and public safety requirements.

Desired Candidate Profile

Knowledge of public works contracts and construction processes.

  • Knowledge of public works contracts and construction processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Strong mathematical and engineering calculation skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and project-related software tools.
  • Ability to prepare clear reports, inspection diaries, and documentation.
  • Understanding of construction scheduling and progress tracking.
  • Ability to review progress payment estimates and extra work claims.
  • Ability to identify hazardous conditions and ensure corrective action.
  • Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal).
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented construction environment.
  • Ability to work in field conditions including climbing ladders, inspecting elevated work areas, and lifting materials up to 50 lbs.

Associate s Degree in construction, engineering, or related technical discipline, or equivalent work experience.

  • Associate s Degree in construction, engineering, or related technical discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • Bachelor s Degree in a technical or construction-related field is preferred.
  • OSHA 10-hour construction safety training or equivalent safety certification.
  • 5+ years of field inspection experience on infrastructure or construction projects.
  • Certifications related to Highway Construction, Highway Design, or Highway Surveying are preferred.
