CNC Operator / Notching Operator - Roll Shop

1. CNC Machine Operations

• Operate CNC lathe/milling machines for roll turning, grooving, and contour machining
• Load CNC programs and set machine parameters as per roll pass design
• Perform tool setting, offset adjustments, and trial runs
• Monitor machining processes to ensure dimensional accuracy and surface finish

2. Notching Operations

• Carry out notching and grooving of rolls as per pass schedule and design
• Ensure correct notch depth, width, and profile for required product size
• Set and align notching tools and fixtures properly
• Inspect notches for accuracy and finish before releasing rolls

3. Roll Preparation & Handling

• Mount and dismount rolls on CNC/notching machines using proper fixtures
• Coordinate with roll grinding and stand assembly teams for smooth workflow
• Ensure proper identification and tracking of rolls

4. Inspection & Quality Control

• Measure roll dimensions, groove profiles, and notches using gauges and instruments
• Verify output against drawings, pass design, and tolerances
• Identify deviations and take corrective actions
• Maintain inspection records and reports

5. Preventive Maintenance

• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of CNC and notching machines
• Check machine health, lubrication, and tool condition
• Report abnormalities and coordinate with maintenance team for repairs

6. Coordination with Roll Shop & Mill

• Ensure timely availability of machined and notched rolls for mill operations
• Work closely with pass design, roll grinding, and stand assembly teams
• Support quick turnaround during urgent rolling schedules
