Wood has an opportunity for a Commissioning & Start-Up Engineer to join our team in Qatar on a long-term basis.



  • Develop project Commissioning and Start-up (CSU) plans and procedures.
  • Develop Systemization (define commissioning systems)
  • Define CSU activities per Commissioning System
  • Set up activity description-logic relationships-resources/vendor support/special tools-temporaryfacilities-durations
  • Develop system testing scope
  • Develop Work Execution Flow Scheme (WEFS)
  • Develop project commissioning plans, integrate commissioning activities into project executionplan
  • Provide CSU schedule input into overall project plans
  • Develop Commissionable System Definition
  • Develop Commissioning & Start up Activity List
  • Develop Commissioning Consumables List and commissioning spares in ESPIR. (Electronic SpareParts and Interchangeability Records)
  • Develop and implement Project to Asset Transfer Plan (P2A) plan comprising of physical assetswith system turnover team and the Information Management Documents
  • Drive the Management of Repeated Failures with a focused ownership on the Flawless deliverables specific for the CSU areas
  • Manage interface with the Asset s operations & maintenance functions
  • Manage support and interface with the P&T s ORA functions
  • Coordinate and manage the interface issues with Construction team from CSU activitiesperspective.
  • To provide support for the Go Completion Process as and when required with details asked by theCSU/OR Lead.
  • Development and getting signed from the respective disciplines the following documentation
    a) RFSU (ready For start UP) certificate
    b) PSSR Walkdowns
    c) Punch List generation and liquidation follow up.
    d) Red Lien marked Up of the documents Like PEFS, HOLM, Cause and Effect Diagrams, ProcessControl narratives, and Datasheets, ISO etc
  • Support Turn Around events if requested by assets and agreed by the QPH.

Desired Candidate Profile

BSc., University degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent

  • Minimum 15 years' experience in Brown Field Oil and Gas related project Design and Engineering
  • 10 years in Oil and Gas Operations or Project Engineering positions, with experience in Commissioning & Start-up
  • 5 years' experience as a CSU Leader in project delivery
  • Experience in the Middle East, knowledge of GTL and LNG are an advantage, as is front-end engineering experience.
  • An good understanding of modern systematic pre-commissioning processes is important as well as a detailed knowledge of systems & tools required to deliver successful CSU on a major project including Flawless methodology
  • Previous work experience on project completion management is preferred for GOC Engineer position.
  • Experience in med size / major projects which must involve gas facilities integration is required, while involvement LNG / GTL facilities & offshore systems will be an added advantage.
  • Also experience with major Brownfield project work that include shutdown or upgrade activities and exposure to working in multi-cultural environments across the globe is desirable.
  • The ability and desire to follow a project from concept selection to steady state operations, through FEED, detailed design, construction, commissioning and handover, supported by relevant experience
  • Strong, and demonstrated, personal commitment to HSSE Leadership and experience in managing HSSE throughout all project phases
  • Ability to work and manage in a multi-cultural environment.
