Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Performs mechanical completion, commissioning, testing, and maintenance of rotatingequipment, including diesel engines and power generation systems, ensuring all systems meet operational standards before handover.
- Conduct MC walkdowns to verify that equipment and systems are installed correctly and meet project specifications before commissioning.
- Perform installation and maintenance of rotating equipment, including shaft couplings, mechanical seals, gland packing, and dry gas seals.
- Execute both manual and laser alignment of engines and alternators to ensure proper operational alignment.
- Install and maintain hydraulic systems, ensuring functionality and safety during commissioning and operation.
- Conduct oil flushing procedures for lube oil and hydraulic oil systems to ensure proper lubrication and system cleanliness.
- Perform Diesel Generator (DG) solo run tests to verify operational performance.
- Conduct mechanical and load run tests on rotating equipment to ensure proper performance under load conditions.
- Measure shaft vibration on rotating equipment to identify any operational issues or imbalances.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues on marine engines, diesel, natural gas, and propane gensets, ensuring equipment operates at peak efficiency.
- Perform preservation, reinstatement, and ongoing maintenance of rotating equipment to ensure long-term reliability.
- Communicate with clients and internal teams to discuss commissioning progress, provide technical support, and address any system-related issues or concerns.
- Estimate the time required to complete tasks and effectively manage resources to meet project deadlines.
- Defines performance goals at the start of the year in discussion with the Supervisor/ Line Manager and ensures that the goals are achieved during the year.
- Identifies the training and development requirements for self and agrees on them with the Line Manager to ensure that the required trainings are arranged and attended.
- Strives to achieve the highest levels of proficiency on all the competencies and skills required to perform the role.
- Keeps abreast of professional developments, new techniques and current issues through continued education and professional growth.
Desired Candidate Profile
Qualifications:
- Technical degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience with commissioning and maintaining commercial power generators, marine engines, or similar systems.
- Expertise in rotating equipment, including alignment, shaft coupling, and mechanical seal maintenance.
- Experience with hydraulic systems, oil flushing, and diagnosing/repairing marine, diesel, and power generation engines
